Each Fall, for over a century, the Petit family welcomes thousands of people for the annual apple harvest.  This traditional family event is very popular in the region and is an experience to live at least once in a lifetime.

The apple inspired our family to create new culinary experiences. In the 70's this inspiration led us down the road to transform this tasty fruit into cider.
Historically, the cider was forgotten in the Société des Alcools du Québec's legislation (known as the Liquor Commission).  Cider production was still active then, but done discretely and only inside family homes.

It was not until 1970 that the market finally placed Cider on the shelves for the public to purchase.  At that time, Jean-Noël Petit, a third generation Petit, decided to start his own cider production.
The 70's were hard years for small producers in Québec. As the cider popularity grown,  large companies introduced the market with industrial made product. The quality of the liquor suffered as did its reputation.

The 80's helped the small producers with new legislation, recognizing artisanal cider production. Producers could now sell their products on the shelves. Stéphane Petit then decided to open his Winery and offer a new sparkling cider made from a family recipe.
The Ice cider arrived in early 2000 and was created among some cideries to fill a new gastronomic demand in Quebec.  This innovation brought back Cider to its deserved rank with Quebec products. In 2000, Les vergers Petit presented 'Petit Frisson' and it has since been receiving critical acclaim and high honors.

Since March 2007, Stéphane Petit is the President of the Association des Cidriculteurs Artisans du Québec. He intends to pursue the recognition of Ice Cider around the world.  Presently, the association works on marketing the Cider in Quebec and getting the control appellation label in order to control overall quality. This is done to insure the integrity of cider and to promote this savory jewel worldwide.
